This painting represents a collaboration of Wang Hui, one of the so-called “Four Wangs,” orthodox masters of the early Qing dynasty (1644-1911), with several of his pupils. Each artist signed the picture and indicated their contribution. The overall landscape was painted by Wang, the bamboo grove by Zhou Gai (active early 18th century), the water pavilion by Yang Jin (1644-1717), and the mountain village by Cai Yuan (active early 18th century). The distant mountains were added at a later time by Wang Hui.
