Aerial photography was exhilarating for Bourke-White, who captured spectacular pre- and postwar views of New York City and its icons from the sky. The helicopter provided a closer viewpoint for her lens with almost eye-to-eye contact achieved here with a group of tourists sticking their heads out of Liberty’s crown.
