Supraba lounges in a comfortable chair while her husband, Arjuna, stands across from her, holding in his hand what appears to be a red pandanus blossom (pudak), traditionally a medium for ephemeral love poetry. The elaborate tree of life flourishes between the two of them, suggesting a fertile meeting of mind and body. The European-styled chair effectively contrasts with the rest of the traditional Balinese scenery, its presence perhaps illustrates the lingering effect of Dutch colonial influence long after Independence as witnessed by the date embroidered at the top of the scene: December 4, 1963.
