This story cloth depicts a scene from the great Hindu epic Ramayana and shows Sita undergoing a trial by fire to prove her fidelity to Rama after being kidnapped by Ravana. She jumps from a great height into the flames, but the gods protect her because of her chastity. Watching the scene are Hanuman, in the lower left, and Rama, Lakshmana, Angada, and Sugriva to the right.
