This ider-ider, which was made to adorn the eves of a temple structure, focuses on the important role of monkeys in the Ramayana. Under the command of the monkey king Hanuman, they assist Rama in rescuing his wife, Sita. The monkey army builds a bridge of tree trunks across a pond filled with fish, signifying their building of a bridge to Lanka, so they can invade and fight Ravana’s demon army.
