Feher used found objects like colored tape, bottles, bags, and strings in his work organizing them to create lyrical sculptures that transformed banal objects into visual poetry. Responding to the American minimal and conceptual art that came before him, Feher’s work made space for humor and encouraged viewers to look with an open mind: “When you strip things bare, you allow them to take on the possibility for broader meaning than if you explained them. Reduction opens the work up.” (“Highlights from the Collection: 45 Years at the Johnson,” curated by Stephanie Wiles and presented at the Johnson Museum January 27–July 22, 2018)
