This courtesan of the Genroku era (1688–1704) is one of eleven famous courtesans with the name Takao, perhaps the sixth, who was known for her writing. Gazing at the summer dawn moon, Takao yearns for her lover, who has recently left the Yoshiwara pleasure quarters.
