Tenmoku tea bowls are made in a Chinese style that mimics Jian ware and Jizhou ware. The dark glaze of the tea bowl enhances the bright green color of matcha tea. Initially, Jian and Jizhou tea bowls were brought to Japan from China, but later potters in Japan created tea bowls in the Tenmoku style.
