As is the case with most Turkana domestic implements, this spoon, used for skimming milk and stirring maize porridge, was carved by a woman. The bowl of the spoon is carved in the form of an atuba (food bowl) and the handle (pierced with a hole for suspension) is flattened for an easy grip. The bowl is set forward on the handle, as if it were joined metal, a characteristic of trad implements.
