Carved by women, this fat container is in fine condition retaining its leather cap and braided carrying strap. The painted and pyroengraved decorations may related to the clan affiliations of the vessel’s owner. The work has a warm patina from use. Relief-carved handles on the side, an unusual elaboration, serve to anchor the carrying strap.
