The Diamond design is unique to the Amish in Pennsylvania. This fine example is attributed to the King family of Lancaster. Amish tend to prefer deep, saturated colors in a limited range for their quilts; the combinations are unusual and sometimes surprising. The large, open color fields of this quilt are filled with intricately patterned quilting as in other Amish Diamond quilts. Typically there is a band of colored edging around the outer border.
