Museum Internships
Work with Us
The Johnson Museum offers internships in all departments to rising Cornell sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled for the full academic year.
All majors are encouraged to apply. Prior museum or art experience is not required; coursework in art history is useful and preferred for curatorial and education positions. Students who anticipate having heavy course loads should not apply since interns are expected to keep regular hours. Federal Work Study applicants are strongly preferred but not required.
The positions pay $15.00 per hour; 10 hours per week maximum. Internships may also be available for credit as an independent study, on a case-by-case basis in consultation with academic advisors.
All open position descriptions and applications for Museum internships are posted through Workday. NetID logins are required to view the complete job descriptions and submit applications.
Internships with the Museum security and visitor services department are posted when available throughout the year. Open internships in curatorial, education, and other Museum departments are posted every spring semester for the upcoming academic year. Limited summer opportunities are available.
The Johnson Museum of Art values the power of different perspectives to expand and deepen our understanding of art and society. The Museum is an inclusive space and we seek candidates who will contribute to an environment that supports students, faculty, and staff of all identities and backgrounds.
