Donor Spotlight: Margie M. Wang ’79

The generosity of our donors and longevity of their support allows the Johnson Museum to serve a wide audience. We are grateful to the many individuals who have donated to the Annual Fund and celebrate what the Museum means to them.

Margie M. Wang ’79 has given to the Johnson Museum Annual Fund for the past twenty-two years. She has fond memories of her early days as an undergraduate math and computer science major in the College of Arts & Sciences, where the newly opened Museum added a fun and novel dimension to her college experience. So impressed by the facilities, Margie decided to take an art history course with Professor Martie Young, then the Museum’s curator of Asian art, who held classes in the Museum and taught critical analysis with the works of art in the collection.

In our 50th anniversary year, Margie is joining the Museum Advisory Council and looks forward to sharing her extensive advisory and executive leadership experience. “I encourage folks to donate to the Johnson Museum. It isn’t very often that a university has the wherewithal and foresight to create such a large, inspiring world-class art museum designed by globally renowned architect I. M. Pei—or a museum at all! Dedicated philanthropy will ensure that access remains open for generations of students and community members, as a place of learning and creativity, and as a calming environment where one can escape the stressors of daily life.”
