Join Johnson Museum of Art educators Maryterese Pasquale-Bowen, Carol Hockett, and guest speakers from around Cornell for this full-day professional development session inspired by the earthwork Theory of a Curve created by the Nigerian American artist Precious Okoyomon.
Gardens can be practical, ornamental, and political. We will discover works in the Johnson Museum’s permanent collection, travel to the Liberty Hyde Bailey Conservatory, collaborate with Cornell Botanic Garden educators to delve into their exhibition Seeds of Survival and Celebration: Plants and the Black Experience, take a tour of the Cornell Weed Science Teaching Garden, and learn about how fellow teachers have created gardens in their schools.
Lunch will be provided, and credit will be granted through registration with TST BOCES. For additional information please email Carol Hockett at cih2@cornell.edu.
