This coastal Peruvian slit-woven tapestry border fragment depicts a row of 5 bird figures woven in shades of gold and brown on a faded red background. The woven fringe edging is colored gold, and a step-fret geometric motif in shades of gold and brown borders the red panel at both top and bottom, just above the fringe. The entire piece is quite faded. This small panel was removed from a larger textile and is remarkably similar to another textile owned by Cornell and found in the Anthropology Collections, Room 150 McGraw Hall, as part of the Ernst Frank Collection donated in 1986.
