Registration for this workshop is now full!
Artist Nydia Blas will join us for a special walk-through of her exhibition Love, You Came from Greatness with Cornell students and a workshop inspired by the exhibition. Participation is free but space is limited.
Blas and students from Black AAP and Soulaan Nation will discuss themes present within the exhibition in relation to student and campus life at Cornell and Blas’s own personal history as an Ithacan. Blas will then lead a creative process where participants will use their own family photos.
This workshop is part of the Johnson Museum’s Art and Wellness series, made possible by a generous member of the Museum’s Advisory Council. Our program provides opportunities for community members and Cornell students to explore hands-on, artistic self-expression and learn new skills in a friendly environment.
Black AAP is an undergraduate student group dedicated to cultivating the relationship between Black students, staff, and faculty within Cornell’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Members believe the bond between student and teacher is vital especially amongst Black creators as these relationships ultimately lead to more success for Black artists in the industry.
Soulaan Nation is an undergraduate group that strives to foster cultural unity and understanding among the African American community at Cornell and bring awareness of African American culture to the larger Cornell community.
