Professional Development

Expand your knowledge of art from around the world and experiment with ways to integrate it into your curriculum. Collaborate and learn with other teachers and Johnson educators. Free professional development programs occur regularly and take place either virtually, or in our galleries. Thanks to our collaboration with TST BOCES, we are able to offer CTE credit for participating educators within eligible school districts.

If you would like to learn more or have a session repeated for a team of educators in your grade level or subject area, please contact Carol Hockett.

Museum Education for Everyone

We work with thousands of students from pre-K through Grade 12 classrooms every year, from school districts in Ithaca, Newfield, Lansing, Trumansburg, Newark Valley, Dryden, and Binghamton to programs with charter schools, Montessori, Racker, Tompkins County Public Library, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and many more. The Museum is also part of Kids Discover the Trail!, a program that takes younger students on curriculum-based field experiences to the eight Discovery Trail sites in Tompkins County.  Our educators work with teachers to coordinate visits and classroom activities for pre-K students.

Support for our program was made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
