This mold-made Chancay redware jar with a buff-colored slip is in the shape of a seated human. The vessel opening is wide, with a the face of a figure on the neck of the jar. The figure’s arms curl from its body to touch its knees, forming the vessel’s handles. The figure wears a loincloth, and has either hair or a headcloth hanging down its back. The bulges on the upper back and mid-chest can indicate burdens, or perhaps a physical deformity.
