Teachers of all disciplines and grade levels can draw on art to illuminate the past and challenge and enrich our understandings of the present. This fall’s monthly series, Art as a Window onto the Past and a Reflection of the Present, will examine artworks from the Johnson’s permanent collection and special exhibitions to prompt discussions of current issues, from the global pandemic to climate change.

Please join Johnson Museum presenters Maryterese Pasquale-Bowen, Carol Hockett, and Elizabeth Yearsley for a lively exchange of ideas! Short readings will be provided prior to our virtual meetings to focus our discussion. Email Carol Hockett with questions or for more information.

In this final session, participants will explore a wide range of work by international artists addressing climate change. We will consider underwater sculptures, intricate futuristic dioramas, and ephemeral site-specific installations.
