In conjunction with the exhibition Taking Shape: Abstraction from the Arab World, 1950s–1980s, join us at the Museum or online for a conversation between Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation in the United Arab Emirates, and Iftikhar Dadi, the John H. Burris Professor in the History of Art at Cornell.

Their conversation will explore the efflorescence of twentieth-century modernism in the Arab world. Taking Shape draws solely on artworks from the Barjeel Foundation’s groundbreaking collections of modern and contemporary Arab art. Dadi is a contributor to the accompanying exhibition catalogue.

Masks are suggested at the Museum and social distancing will be encouraged. A Q&A session will follow the conversation.

This event will also be available as a webinar. Please click this link to join (Passcode: 5189).
