Among the various items for the scholar’s desk, water droppers in the form of dragons enjoyed great popularity during the nineteenth century. The double walled vessel consists of an inner container for holding water and an outer spherical layer that was cut away to create the writhing form of the dragon. Fine details were incised into the surface and the whole vessel coated in an icy blue glaze.
