Our spring reading series about travel continues! Join Nancy Green and Maryterese Pasquale-Bowen once again to imagine far-off places through art.

Orhan Pamuk’s Istanbul: Memories and the City is a loving paean to the city he has lived in his entire life, a reflection on art, families, and fate. It is also a self-portrait, refracted by memory and melancholy–or hüzün–that all İstanbullus share: the sadness that comes of living amid the ruins of a lost empire. Lavishly illustrated with black-and-white images, we come to share Pamuk’s nostalgia for the city of his birth.

Free registration is required to attend via Zoom. Click here to register.

Save the date: Our next session is scheduled for April 28 (4:00 PM EST) reading Among Stone Giants: The Life of Katherine Routledge and Her Remarkable Expedition to Easter Island by Jo Anne Van Tilburg.
