Come away and join us on a series of book reads that will take a look at the influence Italy has had on our imaginations, from art and light to food and wine, led by Museum educator Maryterese Pasquale-Brown and curator Nancy Green.

Our first virtual adventure will be A Month in Siena. Libyan writer Hisham Matar was nineteen and studying in London when his father disappeared under Muammar Gaddafi’s regime. To help cope, he visited the National Gallery during his lunch hour, slow looking at one painting a day. Eventually he encountered the works of the Sienese School of painting from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, and his memoir looks back to the extraordinary month he later spent exploring the art treasures of Siena.

Free registration is required to attend via Zoom. Click here to register.

Save the dates! Additional Museum Book Club Zooms will be held on October 28 and December 2 at 4:00 PM EST (books to be announced).
