In conjunction
with Drawn to Excellence, Museum Members are invited to a series of special talks by Museum staff in conjunction with this rare exhibition.
Artists make a crucial decision when they select a paper for a drawing or print. The color, texture, weight, and surface coating of a paper can all influence the final result. Paper can even give us clues to the age of the work—and whether it's real or a fake.
On March 12, Nancy Green, the Gale and Ira Drukier Curator of European and American Art, Prints & Drawings, 1800-1945, will share more of the "secret life of paper."
This event is free to Johnson Museum Members, but space is limited. Call 607-255-6464 to RSVP by March 8.
This series has been funded in part by a grant from the Robert Lehman Foundation.
